Musket and Trillium annual golf tournament raises $600,000 for Texas Children’s Hospital

Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals event breaks another company fundraising record

HOUSTON, Oct. 15, 2024 - Musket Corp. and Trillium Energy Solutions, members of the Love’s Family of Companies, are proud to announce that its 11th annual Drive for a Child fundraiser campaign benefiting Texas Children’s Hospital raised $600,000 to improve the lives of children. Since 2013, the companies have raised more than $3.4 million for Texas Children’s Hospital, a Children’s Miracle Network Hospital (CMNH).

“We are very proud of this annual tradition that continues to grow each year with the support of our greatly appreciated sponsors that help raise funds to change children’s lives and advance their health and well-being,” said JP Fjeld-Hansen, executive vice president of Musket. “This year’s event, held at TopGolf in Spring, included record breaking attendance of more than 500 attendees who support our partnership with Texas Children’s Hospital on making a life-changing difference in the lives of children and their families.”

Funds raised this year will help make a difference for patients such as Kylea, Texas Children’s 2024 CMNH Miracle Child, who was born prematurely at 34 weeks and just 3 pounds, 11.5 ounces and testing positive for CF, cystic fibrosis. An overachiever from birth, Kylea went home from the NICU after only 13 days. After a liver biopsy and several tests, including blood tests to look for the genetic mutations that cause CF, the family received confirmation that Kylea had two copies of delta F508, the most common genetic mutation that causes cystic fibrosis. Like other children with cystic fibrosis, Kylea would gradually need a full range of services to manage her many complications, including endocrinology for CF-related diabetes, psychiatry, gynecology, physical therapy, cardiology, otorhinolaryngology, immunology, and audiology which enticed the family to move to Houston for care at Texas Children’s Hospital that ranked #1 in pulmonology treatment.

The family moved to Houston in 2017, just in time for the new school year. Thanks to the holistic approach of Texas Children’s, Kylea’s childhood is filled with t-ball, dance, gymnastics, Girl Scouts, swimming, and science camps. Kylea is now 15 and exploring French with hopes to travel the world and study forensic psychology in college. As the 2024 Children’s Miracle Network Champion, Kylea is grateful for the care she has received at Texas Children’s Hospital and wants all kids to have access to the same quality of care so they too can fill their childhood with fun activities and live their dreams.

“Texas Children's Hospital is grateful for the support Musket and Trillium continue to provide through their annual Drive for a Child event,” said Jennifer Smart, manager of philanthropy for Texas Children's Hospital. “The gifts raised help make life-changing discoveries a reality with every donation allowing us to benefit more kids with serious health conditions.”

Texas Children’s Hospital, a not-for-profit health care organization, is committed to creating a healthier future for children and women throughout the global community by leading in patient care, education and research. Consistently ranked as the best children’s hospital in Texas, and among the top in the nation, Texas Children’s has garnered widespread recognition for its expertise and breakthroughs in pediatric health.
